Can't find records for a family (TORENTO/TORRENTE)

Hi everyone,

I am hoping someone can help me locate records for my husband's family.

I recently received a copy of a marriage certificate from New Jersey archives.

Paul Schillaci (22) from Garfield, NJ, born in Italy
Lena Torento (18) from Garfield, NJ, born in Italy (parents: Giovanni Torento, Giuseppa Germanca).

Now, I know for a fact that Lena was much younger, she was in fact about 14 or 15 when this marriage took place.
I can't, however, find ANY record of Lena and her family...not in NJ, not anywhere.

I also don't think that GERMANCA is the mother's maiden name, I think it might be GIAMMANCA.

Can someone help me find a Census or ship manifest for Lena (possibly Lilly) and her family?

Hey Julia,
for everyone's reference, the 1920 census in Garfield
Lena probably wouldn't be on a census earlier than 1920 if she arrived abt 1912-1913
(note: Lena also known as Lily, Lillian on 1930 and 1940 census records)

You are right, if Lena arrived with (or without) her family in 1912 and was married in 1916, she would not be on any census WITH her parents....
