Hello, my name is Krista, and I've just started researching my family history. After speaking with my Grandmother, Josephine Verli (formerly Josephine Trupiano), I've been able to find out my Great Grandfather's name was Michael Trupiano, born February 1890, and I also know that his father was Rocco Tropiani, born August 1859.
I was able to confirm all of the above using the 1900 U.S. Federal Census Record.
Also, from this record I then found out that Michael's sister is Annie Tropiani, born August 1884. Also that Rocco's wife was Nunzia Tropiani, born July 1869.
From the 1900 census, I know that Rocco, Nunzia and Annie all came from Italy. Michael appears to be the first child born in the United States.
I think the, New York Passenger List 1820-1857 for the ship "Caledonia" might be the ship that Rocco traveled on based upon his age on the ship record. It also says the trip traveled from Napoli. I'm not sure if this is the right record because Nunzia and Annie were not with him on the ship.
If anyone can help me learn more it would be great!
Thank you,
Krista
