Wow, a twin??!! Trying to make sense of this though:

Birth record for Domenica D’Amico – a twin
Born on 1 August 1885 at 4 PM (presented to the official on the 2nd)
Father – Antonio, 40, farmer
Mother – Maria Simiele, 25, farmer

Maria Giuseppa
Presented on 10 November 1887
Born on 9 November at 9 PM to
Antonio D'amico, 40, farmer
Maria Simiele, of deceased Cristinangelo(?), his wife, 29, farmer

Note the ages of the father??? Could this be the other twin? perhaps it was translated wrong?

The indication that Domenica was a twin is in the name-line of the record...
it states that she is twin [gemella] to the birth act that follows, the next one in the record book. On many of your images, the record number is cut off. Can you see the record # for Domenica? The next act of birth would be that of her twin. I do not see another birth record for the same date, AND I do not believe Maria Giuseppa born more than two years later is her twin.


As to the age of the father... this is a common occurence on these records. "Age" was not as precise - these individuals were illiterate and often made a guess at their actual "age."

As an added point of information - within a comune[town] there may be MANY individuals with the same name (male or female) because of Italian naming traditions. It is important to look at the father of the father in a birth record, as well as the father of the mother in the birth record; or sometimes a middle/second name, to establish if you have the correct family.
For instance, you may encounter more than one Antonio D'Amico in a town. It helps to know who Antonio's father was.

You will need to look closely at the records you have, and their translations to note the details.

FOR EXAMPLE:

You have posted two birth records above ("part 1" and "another view")
BOTH of these records are for the birth of MARIA GIUSEPPA D'AMICO...
Same parents, but 13 years apart. In addition, the birth record I translated for Maria Giuseppa born in 1887, also had the same parents. This would usually indicate that the child from the earlier birth has died, and the next born was given the name. Very common.

Record dated 26 June 1894
Father: Antonio D'Amico, son of deceased Cosmo, age 45, peasant farmer
Mother: Maria Simiele, daughter of deceased Cristinangelo, age 40, farmer, his wife
Child born on 25th at 3:30 AM and given the name MARIA GIUSEPPA

Father: Antonio D'Amico, son of Cosmo, age 32, peasant farmer
Mother: Maria Giuseppa Simiele, daughter of deceased Cristinangelo, age 23, wife
Child born on 29th at 7:30 PM, and given the name MARIA GIUSEPPA

This is a notation attached to the birth record of Nicola D'Amico
It states that he was married on 26 June 1913 in Cercepiccola to Assunta Muccilli

I have to agree with Marty. Posting the records as you have makes it very difficult for those of us who do volunteer translation work here on the forum.
