Searching for Starace family records

Hello,

I'm trying to put together my family tree and possibly pursue dual citizenship in Italy. I've been able to locate all documents in the US but have hit a brick wall when trying to locate any documents in Italy. The record I'm looking for is my Great Grandfathers birth certificate. So far I've found out the following about him

Name - Michael Starace
DOB - 4/29/1888
Birth Place - Italy (I've found some documents saying Napoli, Gallipoli or Lecce)
Fathers name - Frank or Francesco (depending on document) Starace
Mothers name - Annunziata Carotenuto

Spouse's name - Rose Fusco

He immigrated to the US when he was 8 years old so that'd be around 1896 and lived in New York the remainder of his life.

I'm not sure which way to go from here, I'm trying to complete this search without having to involve an investigator but it's looking like that is my only option as I can't really afford to (though I wish I could) head to Italy and find the documents myself.

Can anyone here help with the search or possibly point me in the right direction?

PS. My grandparents have always said we were cousins to Achille Starace but as of now I can't prove that but I figured it may help with locating documents as we should be from the same area.

Hi, I believe that your ancestors coming from Napoli or Napoli area because Starace and Carotenuto are surnames of Napoli town and Napoli province...
