Hi,
I'm having a problem finding Carmine DiPativo or DePadova or DiPadova on any passenger list (I have 3 spellings for his name). I have checked Ellis Island and found a Carmine DePadova, B 1877 married to a Antonetta. My grandmother's name was Maria. This Carmine and Antonetta shows up on the 1920 and 1930 census. My Carmine died 1916 and is buried at St. Mary's Cemetery, Trenton, NJ. So I know this is not my Carmine. Besides checking Ellis Island Passenger list I have checked The Boston list and the New Orleans List also checked the website Filby's Passenger & Immigration List Index. I also checked the microfilm from Family Search for Ospedaletto, Euganeo, Italy along with Ospedaletto, Padova, Italy and many many many more towns. On those films I checked his birth date 1880 then 1881 and 1879. No luck. I called the cemetery and was told they only have plot numbers. I wrote to St. Joachim's Church on April 10th where his funeral service was held but they have not responded. I have called but was told they are busy and only have volunteers.
Anyone, have any suggestions on how I could find how and when Carmine arrived in this country. Carmine does not show up on Ancestry nor Family Search. Carmine was my grandmother's first husband. I know he existed. I have a copy of their marriage record and his death certificate from Trenton, NJ archives. I feel like I hit that proverbial brick wall. Any help, suggestions or directions would be appreciated.
Sorry this is so long.
Thank you,
Sandi
