Need Genealogy Help!

I have located my Great Grandfathers Passenger Record from Italy to the USA, but I cannot find the Record for my Grandmother. I also believe that my Great Grandmother died before coming to the US. My question is: Is there any way to \"lookup\" birth/death records in Italy for those who are deceased? My great grandfather\'s name is Joseph Cecchini. Thank you in advance for any help offered! Italian women retain their identity when they marry and if she came to the USDA she would be admitted under her maiden name. You may wish to request a death certificate from the town of origin if yiou know her full name and year of death or you can request her marrriage certificate to your grandfather if you know when they were married. His age and place of birth is on the ships manifest. Peter
