Kristi,

Who did you interview that claimed to be Rose's sister. What was her name? Rose Munno or something else?

Melissa, Kristi, and Michele,

I remember a Philomena who lived close to my paternal grandfather, ( Philip Patti ) who lived at 127 Dearborn Street. I think a Philomena was mentioned, and she was about 4 ft tall and old the last time I was in Ohio, about 1971. There was also a Lucy Kovach ( married name ) who was somehow related.

Thank you for sharing all that with me. I kinda always assumed that he had been hurt or upset from some kind of hard life. He did always say, "they all aren't my real brothers and sisters" and just considered certain people his family. I think that he wanted your mother to do the same. I over heard something the last time your mother came here to see my grandfather before he died. I have talked to Mary York several times, but I could never actually ask her that. I wish they were more open about everything, but then again there is that Italian pride thing. :)

Actually after you mentioned the gypsy thing, I remember my grandfather saying that she was a gypsy, true gypsy. I asked my sister if she remembers that and she does! My husband said that typically it's Romanians but also Albanians. Something else that my grandfather told my mother is that Rose was Pennsylvania Dutch. A while back I found that she was born here in the United States, of course I lost where I found that! I gave Melissa information scraps that I have left. I believe Rose's mother's surname was Miladore. I have a note that either the probate office or a certain library has marriage records starting from 1846, though I don't know looking up marriages would help? Maybe? I don't know.

Anyway. :) Do you know anything about Margaret, Rose's sister? She told me her name was Philomena, also her daughter's name. I found her name as Phinomena Winsen at some point and I know she remarried at least one other time after Frank. Also, have you heard the same story that Frank went to Italy to marry her and brought her back? That's what I was told from family... and she said they married for citizenship, but they didn't need to do that back then.

Sorry Carol I didn't see your post. And LOL @ the 4ft Philomena. That would be the same lady!! She was a tiny little lady and she was born in 1920 and died in 1997. She said she was Rose's sister and that she was married to Frank. Only thing we could figure is that she was Margaret, the last wife and my grandfather said that was Rose's sister. My mother mentioned Margaret and she nodded her head yes. I only remember because I badly wanted something more clear.

Lucy Kovach... Would that be Lucy from his first marriage? I don't have a last name for her in my records.

This is great. As for Lucy she was the baby Rose who traveled with my grandpa in 1913. She was adopted out we found to a the Christian family down the street and later married and became Lucy Kerr. My grandpa stayed close with her. Kovach is the married last name of my aunt Patti who was my grandpa John's daughter.

I remember Patti, and now the name Lucy Kerr definitely rings a bell. She was another 4 footer. Is Millie still alive? I bet she would remember alot. Wished I had asked her last time I saw her in Texas.
