I have more info on this subject. Joseph Peter Giamportone was my great grandfather. Don\'t know when he was born, but he died 12-27-1986 and was buried some where in Florida. He was married to Edith Marie Abney and Rosemary Giamportone. His brothers and sisters were: Frank Giamportone, Johnny Giamportone, Mary Alongi, and Johnnie Giamportone. Children were: Ross Giamportone, Pat Maddox, Marie Standridge, and Frankie Tipton. He was one of only 2 or 3 children born in the USA, his parents were from Siracusa, so I have been told. His parents came through Ellis Island but I am not sure of the date.

If you cannot locate him thru the ellis island website then you can go to www.ssdi.genealogy.rootsweb.com for his social security SS-45 original application which will have all the vital data you need. When you get to his record go all the way to the right and under SS-5 click and a form letter will apppear. It will cost you about $27.00 for a copy. Peter

The social security death index shows Joseph Giamportone was born on February 10, 1910. So when you go to check the ellisisland you can check his age at time of entry and find the right Giamportone. Peter
