Looking for Astalvio

Has anyone ever heard of a town called Astalvio, Province Di Reggio Calabria? My spelling could be wrong. I believe this is where my grandfather is from -- born 1881.

go to www.ellisisland.org and look up your grandfathers entry into the USA and see if you can come with a viable town of origin name. Peter

My grandfather came to the US through Boston. Unfortunately, those records aren\'t documented as well as Ellis Island. Any other suggestions?

Since you didn\'t furnish your grandfathers surname go to the Mormon FHlibrary nearest you and request NARA microfilm for passenger arrivals to Boston 1902-1920, Partys 1 and 2 if he came into the USA during that period. The NARA microfilm catalog numbers for A thru z are T521-1 thru 11 and corresponds with FHL# 1324975 thru 1324984 A thru Z. If you have trouble reading the first roll then order the second roll #1205455 thru 1205465. FHL is the catalog number for the FHL in Salt Lake City library and can be ordered for your local FHlibrary. You can also go towww.genealogylookups.com/narchives.htm and obtain form 81 from NARA for their furnishing you with passenger arrival information if the dates are not consistent with whast you know.
