There are 283 persons surnamed Barletta in Calabria. Go to www.paginebianche.it and insert barletta first line and Calabria third line and click cerca then click below where it says each province. for town distribution. The Vorati.....??surname needs \"work\". Peter

Peter:
hmmm... surfing thru the listings, I can see i can shorten my search down to two regions....Catanzaro and Cosenza. but......No one is named Carl Barletta. This was Giacoma\'s father\'s name. Giacoma was born in 1850....I figured the name may have been carried on thru out the generations.. guess not!!! Now I need to find a town............

dar
Florence is the capital of the Toscana region and is not an island. I suggest you go to www.mapquest,com and familiarize yourself with its geography. Catherine is your next move. Peter

;-)

Peter - I\'ve found www.ellisisland.org very usefull in finding SOME relatives arriving here. However, James (Giacomo) BARLETTA and Catherine (Catrina) FERROTTI arrived in 1885 and 1886. Is there a website like Ellis Island.org for the years prior to 1892??? I\'d love to find it. I have had no luck at all finding it, if it even exists!!! Let me know!

dar
I believe there is a CD-rom for earlier dates but you can always file form 81 to NARA for their arrival data. www.GENEALOGYLOOKUPS.COM/NARCHIVES.HTM...pETER
