I am looking for info regarding my grandfather...Francesco DeCesare...born march 20, 1877...not sure of town, from what I understand, he came to US approx. year 1895. My father says name may have been spelled Di, instead of De...what I guess I\'m looking for is a place I can go to find birth records...any help will be great...thanks, karen

yes I believe so. He came over here through Ellis Island around 1895, I\'ve looked through the files but I can\'t be sure which one he is because there is a age difference between what is there and what my father gave me, plus I am not sure of the town, my father says he thought it was doggo but I haven\'t seen it as a town name........ I need to talk to my dad more and see what else I can find out....thanks

Ask Dad what province or what big towns or cities he heard as a child. Peter

There are not thsat many towns in Italy starting with Dog and the closest I can come to is DOGARO, in the province of Modena, in the Emilia Romagna region. hope this helps out. Peter
