Della Piana in Pianella

I\'m looking for the man who might have been the very first of my grandfather\'s line. Leonardo (Della Piana) was born in 1609 in Pianella. He married Francesca Scanegatti on 4 Oct 1634 in Catignano. They had 4 children that we are aware of, and they were all born in Catignano. Leonardo died in Catignano. We have no information on his parentage, and this research was done by our Mormon missionary nieces and nephews. Our theory is that Leonardo \'developed\' the last name of Della Piana, by virtue of the fact that he was born in Pianella, and might have been referred to (by acquaintances in Catignano and elsewhere) as Leonardo della Pianella. This could have eroded into Della Piana over a time. <BR> <BR>I\'m desperate to discover whether there were ANY Della Pianas in Pianella around 1609. <IMG SRC="images/forum/icons/icon_biggrin.gif">

There is no immediate record for della Piana in Pianella. I suggest you pursue your genealogy at the FHL nearest your home and continue your genealogy research by going thru their microfilms for ther town of Pianella. Peter
