Looking for the \"Atto di Nascita\"

Hello! My name is Gabriela Samel, I\'m brazilian and now I\'m living in Barcelona, Spain. First of all, sorry for my english. My great-grand-father was ITALIAN (immigrated to Brasil in the 1900\'s) and I\'m desesperating looking for his Birthday Certificate (atto di nascita) in order to get my nacionality. What we know about him is what is writen on his \"dead certificated\" (in portuguese). - Pedro Samel (or Pietro Samuele / Sameli - in italian) father: JosÃ© Samel mother: Bitta CrescÃªncia de Moxajat born and battized: \"freguezia de Avilha, arcebispado de Menfa, Italia, en 1862\" This Comune doesnÂ´t exists anymore and my father believes he was from Reggio Emilia. So, I sent letters (in italian) to many comunes (Menfi, Malfa, Reggio Emilia, Avella... ) asking for his Atto di Nascita, but I don\'t have answer. I really aprecciated your help in any sense... did he ever serve in the italian army? Peter

Did you ever check Brazilian immigration reecords for your fathers entry into Brazil?? Just a thought since there are a few places you can check in Brazil. Peter
