My Grandfather\'s first wife, Maria Guccitorri, died in childbirth when my Half?uncle was born on March 2, 1911, in Waterbury CT. I am told they were married on Dec. 9, 1907, in Meriden, Ct.. Supposedly Maria was born in Fabbriano, Italy on October 4, 1870. I can find nothing to substantiate this information, and would love to at leat find that Maria was born in Italy, and from there determine her parents. Is there at leat such a place in Italy, or maybe am I spelling the lst name incorrectly and that is why I am coming up with nothing. I wonder if they were maybe not rally married or something.

is the surname you gave her maiden name or her married name andthere is no town Fabbriano. You need to know the exact name of the town in orderr to obtain documents and trace names. Have you checked ellisisland for her entry into the USA under her maiden name since Italian woman do not lose their identity. If you know the town you can also check for a marriage certificate. Peter

The name Guccitorri was her maiden name. Her married name would have been Giordano. I assume that is her maiden name, I guess it is possible she was married previous to my grandfather Vincenzo James Giordano. I can not locate a marriage certificate in Meriden, where she was supposed to have gotten married, but if I have her name wrong, maybe that is why. Seems like I would have found it under Giordano, at least, but I did not. On another note, I took your advice trying to locate my greatgrandmother Figliuolo\'s family in Potenza. There were only nine listings, which is great. But the show the names adn address is \" Figliuolo Rocco, 85100 Potenza (PZ) - Via Angilla Vecchia, 60\" I hate to show my stupidity, but could you explain how I would put that information on the envelope. Sorry for my ignorance.

Guccitorri in Fabbriano Italy

Peter, Would it make any difference in locating the town for Maria Guccitorri\'s relatives if it was spelled Fabriano? I may not have written it exactly correct. Or is there any town that might have a name that sounds like Fabriano? Thanks a lot.

There are three possiblities. One is Fabriano, the other Fabiano and a third, Fabiana. each one is a separate town or village. I suspect Fabriano is more closely related to the correct town but that is speculation on my part, Now for the address. Mr. Figliuolo Rocco
Via Angilla Vecchia 60
Potenza 85100,
Hope this helps. Peter Basilicata region, Italy
