Hi I am looking to find information for my family that came from Italy. They came to the US July 31, 1909 through Ellis Island. I have been told they were on the ship ..Taormina. Donate D\'Intino came over with his wife (Rosa Cilla/e) to meet his brother Nicola in Rycle, PA. Donate and Rosa brought their son Mike and daughter Flora. The name changed to Dandy onced they came through Ellis Island. Donate and Rosa ended up in Burdine, KY where they ran a boarding house. I have been to Ellis Island.org and nothing is matching up. I was told that the town that they came from is Atuila. I have not been able to find info on that either. Rosa\'s Mom Angela came over to meet her husband Salvatore D\'Antonio in Philadelphia, PA. I am at a dead end, any info would help. Thank you for your time. Ciao. ;-)

OK I did a quick check and none iof the family appear in the Ellis Island records so presumably they came in thru Philadelphia or Boston. Get down to basics and do the following file form 81 passenger arrival record thru NARAS. Go to www.genealogylookups.com/narchives.htm for arrival records. remember that wife Rosa entered the USA in her maiden name since Italian woman never lose their identity and the children take on the fathers name. Next you have to find the town of origin which Form 81 will give you. I tried to come up with a sounds like name and even that doesn\'t work.Is there any porovince that you can tell me which will give me a clue as to the town that they came from?????Look over the town name again from somewhere, a photograph or a letter perhaps anything with a name of the town or province...even what dialect they spoke,if any will do. I did another quick check and the Taormina came into Phildelphia on July 26, 1909 which means they came into the USA at that port. If you are in a hurry go to the nearest Mormon Family History Library and request NARA microfilm#T526-11 which corresponds to the Morn church microfilm#1380267. You can ask the library attendant to verify this FHL # since they used a soundex system and I may be wrong. Once you get their entry data from the miucrofilm the name of the town will be there. Call them up on the telephone nearest your home in Virginia. Peter

I have found some new information that disqualifies some of the past info. My grt grandfather Mike (Michele) came over from Naples, Italy with his mother Rosa (Pasquela Rosa Cilla), and his sister Flora. They came over with a ticket bought by Donato(Rosa\'s husband) in Pittsburgh, Pa which was sent to them in Italy. Their destination was to meet Donato in Ambridge, PA. Rosa, Donato, Michele, and Flora Dindino were born in L\'Aquila. On Mike\'s death certificate it said he was from Roccacasale. His name changed to Dandy when he received citizenship. They did come into Philadelphia on the Taormina on Oct 25, 1910. The record may be T526 roll 13 index 1883-1948 (passenger records in Philly). How could I access this? How could I get some more information on my family? My grandmother says that she used to get candy, etc from family still living in Italy when they were little before her dad Mike passed. Any info you can help me with would be wonderful. Grazie. Ciao. :-P
