Verification of Birth Certificates

I need some help. I am trying to verify if my great great grandfather's and his son's birth certificate are available from Naples. Any information on my great great grandfather's wife would also be of great help

Fortunately, I do have a reasonable amount of information that my family has gathered over the years:

My great great grandfather's name is Davide Lofruscio
Here is his birth date:
Nato il 1 de marzo 1864( other sources I have say 1863) passato a Dio il 22 gennaio 1955


His wife's name is: Clara Bazano( other sources I have, have the last name as Borzane or Bazan )

My great grandfather, Davide's son is:
Angel ( or maybe Angelo ) David Lofruscio Bazan ( not sure on the second last name from above ). Was born March 29th of 1900.
He may have not have been born in Italy since Davide and Clara emigrated to Paraguay sometime before or around 1919.

Here is some extra info:
Davide had a brother: Ernesto Gaspare Lofruscio, born in Naples in 1887.
Davide had 5 children: 1) Silvio 2) Alma 3) Clara 4) Angel( or Angelo ) 5) Pietro. Child number 4 being my great grandfather.


My family has all records up to my grandfather, but we don't have much about his dad ( Angel ) or his grandfather ( Davide ) . We are currently seeking Italian citizenship and the existence of birth certificates of the people mentioned above would help tremendously.

I appreciate any help and I look forward to hopefully hearing any good news.

In order to verify birth records, you will have to check microfilm or write to Napoli.

This assumes you mean they are from the town of Napoli and not from one of the many towns in the province of Napoli.

The first link will be of great use. I will contact the FHC and see if they can help me.

The second link seems to be taking me to a "not found" page.

I am going to write an email to Naples as well. I am assuming English is not a problem for them.

Yes, from what we know my ancestors come from the town Napoli, but as you said it is very possible it could be anywhere in the province.

I will post my findings in the upcoming days/weeks. Hopefully I will get some information sooner that I expect.

Another option is to find the passenger manifests from when your ancestors immigrated to USA. How much detail as to their place of birth will depend on year of immigration.

they didn't emigrate to the USA.

They went to Paraguay. My uncle recently found a record of a ticket and they came to Paraguay in 1919, not sure if that is the first visit.

Ok, I don't speak Italian I may have to ask someone I know to write it for me.

My local FHC in Atlanta is nearby. I will go visit it this upcoming week.

I forgot to mention that the record the FHC has on microfilm is up to 1865.

How can I look at records of people between 1865 and maybe 1920?

Out of curiosity I checked Ellis Island's website. I was happy that I did find a match. Even though my family never resided in the U.S. They did travel and were transit passengers in New York!

I found information on my great great grandfather's younger brother.

He traveled 3 times

Here is information on the first trip:

Could I assume that my great great grandfather being his older brother lived in the same house in Italy?? Very likely.

I'm still going to the FHC to try to confirm my great great grandfather's birth location. If it matches what I just found on his brother, then I can go ahead a request the birth certicates I need.

Quick Update:

Ordered 3 Microfilms from FHC. Birth records of the Napoli Stato Civile
The years covered are 1862-1865. If you are in the Atlanta area please contact me so that you can take advantage of them being here when they arrive in like 2-3 weeks.

Also contacted CEMLA ( www.cemla.com ) They do have records of entry of my family. They are really nice and they do inquiries outside of Argentina.

I have more information than ever before! I got tons of information that I have gathered in 1 week, that my family hasn't been able to do in years!

Why pay the premium to order a birth record. YOu can send a letter (written in Italian) to the comune and request the birth record. Also send a copy of your license, or some form of identification and 2 international postal reply coupons.

Ok. that is definitely worth a try. I don't speak Italian, but I have seen the site that was previously mentioned in this thread so that I can request it in Italian.

How responsive is the comune?
I am assuming that will have a cost. How much would that be?
Is email ok?
