Have you used the new program yet?? Just recieved mine in the mail a few weeks back, haven't installed it yet.....would like to know what everyone thinks of the new version!!

On another note.....the new feature at Ancestry, Publish, is fantastic....has alot of neat features!!

Hey Lee!
Yes I'm using FTM2008! It is a lot different than the previous versions
of FTM. I'm enjoying it so much that I'm actually starting back over
from scratch on one of my files .
I've kept FTM16 on my computer as a back-up .
Transferring files from FTM16 to FTM2008 works great!
The only drawback so far to FTM2008 (that I miss) is a few reports
that I was used to using aren't there. They're planned as an addition
to the update. There don't appear to be any plans to add the book
feature, but I never used it on FTM16.
I've been working with FTM2008 for a couple of weeks, and am still
finding new features as I go. I'll bet if I read the manual (bought
separately) it'd go even faster.

Side note: my computer crashed about a month ago and I lost
almost everything. Luckily I had just backed up my FTM files and
had no problem transferring them back to my new computer after
I re-installed FTM16 (the program they were written in). It was an
easy transfer to FTM2008 from the FTM16 program on the computer.
Since it's a new computer, I'm working with Vista. No problems at all
with either FTM programs.

Lee (& everyone), I would love to know your thoughts when you
start working with FTM2008!

I'll have to give it a try as time allows.....as long as it's
"user friendly".....I am not exactly a computer whiz.....

While it may be an older program, and somewhat basic, I really like the
PAF offered for free at the Lds website..( do they still offer that??? )
I use that for my lines, and the FTM for my husbands.....

Sorry to hear about your computer!!!! Good thing you did a backup, an important point for us all to remember......backup those files on a regular basis!!!!!

FTM 2008 new update.
Just downloaded the latest update to the
Family Tree Maker 2008 program.
The new reports are fantastic!

the original update to FTM was pulled after only
a few days.
The new patch is now available.
