\"Americanized\" Italian names

CHICAGO-My great-uncle Frederico Cristofolini immigrated to Chicago around 1909 and Americanized his name to Frederick Christopher. I am trying to locate any descendents in Illinois, but I cannot even find him listed in the US SS Death Index. How can I obtain name change documents or naturalization documents that may contain wife\'s name, children, etc?

Go to www.INS.usdoj.gov/graphics/aboutINS/history/natz rec/nat rec.htm which is an immigration site for obtaining information about naturalization records. You can then request a copy of his intention to become a citizen which will contain the information sought, Peter
