I have recently become interested in researching my Italian side of the family and have come to find out that my great-grandparents Paul D\'Agostino and Rose Agosta were born in Palermo and Syracuse respectively. I am interested in finding out if anyoen can give me some guidance as to where I would write for their birth records. I am very eaer to begin finding out them and any help anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated. Please e-mail me at princesspooh2@hotmail.com if you may be able to help me.

were they born in those cities or the provincial towns? Records in Italy are in the towen of origin. Do you happen to know if they enetered the USA as immigrants at Ellisisland? If so you can go to www.ellisisland.org and look them up for both the year of their birth and town of origin. Please let me know. Peter

Not quite sure if they are provincial towns or not. I don\'t know very much information about them at all. I have asked my grandmother but she doesn\'t remember very much of the information such as when they came to the USA or anything like that. I have to do ALOT of research to be able to get any information about them. I don know their birth dates and the dates that they died but that is about the extent of it.

well you can get that information if yhou look up their names in the www.ellisisland.org website. There you can obtain their town of origin and age at time of entry and can even access the ships manifest as to where they were destined in the USA. Peter

when did they entter the USA and when did they pass on? Do you know where they went to loive when they arrived here. Are there any pohotographs or old letters from Italy that can give you a cluce. What does family oral history say about them? You need the town of origin! Peter

write to Ufficio di Stato Civile, Comune di Palermo, Postale 90100, Sicily, Italy and send them a form letter in Italian along with a self addressed envelope with a dollar inside for stamps and an international bank check for $5.00 for each document or you can send cash if you wish to take a chance. They cannot cash money orders or checks. You have to request for the doucments in Italian and so go to www. italian ancestry.com in part 3 for the form letters. Put in Sircause Postal code 96100 for Siracusa and in each form letter put in the full name and hear or date of birth. if you don\'t know either then you will have to approximate but then it is doubtful if you will get a positive response in such big cities you need a date or year of birth and full names. But try anyway. Peter
