Thanks a lot, suanj,
Arquà Petrarca, Padova is highly probable, but the surname we have (Contato) is not very seldom.
Piacenza is right - so far as we can expect. (You seem to be experienced in the old german handwriting called Suetterlin ???)
Cercemaggiore is not probable, but your hint - magion/maggiore led to:
CESIOMAGGIORE, Belluno, which seems to be the right place for our Lise, Carlo *25.9.1895.-
regards

Hi Martin: sure Contato surname is present in Arquà Petrarca (11 families)and very diffused in all Padova province (33 families)...
I know not old german handwriting called Suetterlin, but in italian things: yes...
I think, for better help you, that is better you write the town misspelled and also surname coming from town misspelled, for better and just exact name town search, so many easy....
More:
Belucca?=Balocco(Vercelli)?

Thanks suanj for the help and advise,
I added the surnames in the original posting and (what a shame) some more unknown locations, which came across by additional records we have to process.

Martin

Great work suanj, I am fascinated what you are doing with such a few, often heavily misspelled informations. Thanks so much for your effort.
One question is open to me: what is JORCA - JARCA ?
Comes this word from a special northern italian dialect and describes it the region of Torino? We have a couple of towns which are now in the Province of Torino, but the people in the past mentioned Jarca or Jorca as the Provinces name.
Another topic is the transcription/translation of Names:
The coal mine writers gave the italian miners german names, e.g. Hubert for Umberto, Josef for Giuseppe, Johann for Giovanni and so on.
So where or whom I can ask for italian names which compare to: Werner, Gerhard? This names I cannot find in italian/german dictionaries.
Regards
Martin
