First of all the surname should read LACATIVA (ending in A) and the first name indicated upon an 1888 arrival is A. Lacativa from Italy sailing from Napoli. Now the job is to locate the town of origin I take it?

The surname LACATIVA is not listed in the Italian surname dictionary signifying that the Lacativa surname is either an imported surname from a foreign land and italianized or local in origin based upon some town or village based upon a first name, characterization or nickname.
Why do you say he comes from the Napoli area sinc e his arrival record in 1888 only reflects Napoli as a port of departure?? =Peter=

I will forward your information to my aunt and have her update any information she has on the family ~ She was trying to research and decided the spelling must have been changed at some time as you indicate with it ending in an "a". Thank you
