Borelli, Seghetti, Passini, Ricci
Hi,
I am looking for information on my Italian ancestor's who came to the Illinois area from Montese, Italy in the early 1900's. My great grandparents names were Pietro (Peter) and Teresa (Seghetti) Borelli. They had five children, one of whom died in infancy. I appreciate any help you may be able to offer to me. Take Care.

Re: Borelli, Seghetti, Passini, Ricci
Thank you for this information. I am hoping to find a birth certificate for Peter Borelli next now that I know his birth place. How should I go about sending this request to Italy? Is there another way to learn about Peter's parents names or siblings he may have had?
Thanks so much for your help.
Blessings,
Jodi

Re: Borelli, Seghetti, Passini, Ricci
If he naturalized, the name of his parents may be listed, Social Security App may also list this, church records can be another source.....and very often the manifest will list a parents name.
We have two different dates of birth listed, without the name of one or both parents, obtaining his birth record could end up being a mistaken identity..due to the naming traditions in Italy there could possibly be more than one Pietro with the same last name born during the month of March 1884.
By obtaining all US records first, you have a greater chance of locating precise information in Italy.
If Lina is in fact the first child born, I would say more than likely he was married here in the US, so obtaining marriage record would also help.

Re: Borelli, Seghetti, Passini, Ricci
I have found the marriage certificate in Putnam County, Illinois. In the census' he is listed as being married, although the marriage certificate isn't dated until after all of the kids were born. So, actually they weren't married until after 1930. I found this to be interesting. I can't read either of their parents names on the certificate except for Peter's fathers name was indeed Pietro, also. I have pictures of both Peter's and Teresa's grave sites, but as for the actual birthdate all it says on it is "March 1884". Is there somewhere I can look for more information regarding relatives still in Italy? I really appreciate your help.
Oh, and yes Lena Passini was Peter and Teresa's first born.

Re: Borelli, Seghetti, Passini, Ricci
Thank you so much. I am putting together a letter to send to Italy now. I have checked on Ellis Island and have found more Borelli's that were going to Granville, Il. or Toluca, Il. I really think that these are also relatives. How helpful would it be for me to spend time finding Social Security numbers for the deceased relatives?
