Hello,
I am wondering what the best choice would be to find the parents, grandparents & etc. of the people whom I am researching.
If I send a letter to the Vital Statistics, I would want to find the names of parents & grandparents for both of the people. That would be a total of 8 people. Can you request that many people at once?
If I find the Parish that they belonged to, would it be easier to find the data as they were most likely born, married & died there?
I am looking for the parents of: Gaetano Miceli- b. Feb. 26, 1895 & his wife Christine-b. Nov. 16, 1895. I do know that Christine's father was Carmelo De Maria. They were all from Molochio, Reggio Calabria.
Not sure really what to do next. I do not feel comfortable writing a letter to find this information as I am not familiar with the Italian language at all. I am hoping that someone can perhaps do this for me.
Any further hints or tips as to what to do next would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Donna

Hi Donna!
Since you know their birth dates, you may want to start with Gaetano & Cristina's birth records (acts) at the civil office in Molochio

Re: Parish information/Vital Statistics help needed please
Valerie,
Hello. Thank you for the information. I would rather try to find a way to get the needed data without writing a letter. I will give this information to my friend's children & leave it up to them if they would like to write a letter or not.
Are there any on-line data bases or parish records that could be searched? I sound somewhat lazy not wanting to write or go to the LDS to research this family. I just don't think they are that "into" it. Having the parents & grandparents names & DOB would be sufficient. After that, I would just turn over the info to the family & let them go from there if they wanted.
Thnk you,
Donna

Valarie,
What about cemetery records? Are they all kept at the parish?
Just looking for other avenues to explore.

Donna,
I believe that if someone is paying for the upkeep, the graves may still be in existence.
You would probably want to check with the local parish (in Italian )
