Surnames - Zana, Appolonia and Lolla

Post by petals »

I am looking for information on both my Grandfather's and Grandmother's sides of the family. My Grandfather came over from Nadro Italy. His name was Baptista Zana. His Father's name was the same and his Mother's name was Maria Appolonia. Also I am looking for my Grandmother's side, thier surname is Lollo, Simeon and Antonia.
If anyone has information or thinks they might have a connection to either family I would appreciate any help.

also, from your other post

When my grandfather married, he settled in Huton, Ohio.
But I have no records on his parents, except for his father's trave to the US to go to Monogahela, Pa.

Thank you for the replies, I have all of these and yes I am on Ancestry.com as flowerptz. I am lost when it comes to finding out information from Italy on both Batista and Maria. Not sure where to go or look. I have already tried to find out information on the Appolonias that resided in Monogahela, Pa here in the US but nothing ever turned up. So I think they might have just been visiting. As far as the Zana side I am stuck in Nadro but no further info. If you have any info that might help me with my journey please let me know, I would greatly appreciate it. I think my grandfather was the only child, but not sure.

Thank you for the update :D !
Checked the Family History Library (LDS). It appears that they have not filmed the civil records for Ceto.
Have you tried writing to the comune for some of your family's records?

Thank you everyone for your help, in the past 14 years I have found so much information and even traveled to Nadro, Ceto, Brescia Italy to meet 25 cousins 5 of them being my Father's 1st cousins. We saw where my Grand Father was born and raised and learned he was 1 of 7 children but he was the only one to to move to the US. We remain in contact with our newly found family through Facebook and occasionally video chat around the holidays.

I've also been to Italy a few times over the past several years. My grandfather was from a little town called Poggioreale. This past summer, I went to check it out, but the place is deserted now. It's basically a ghost town. My grandparents met during World War 2 - my grandma was from Czechoslovakia at the time and my grandpa was Italian. Unfortunately, they've both passed away now, my grandma lost her battle with cancer, and my grandpa passed away in Italy.
