Ancestors from Mozzate, Como Prov., Lombardy Reg. Italy
Hello,
My name is Tim Farnham and I am working on my daughter-in-law's genealogy. I know her ancestors are from Mozzate, Como Prov., Lombardy Reg. Italy. I have been to Milano, Italy a year ago on business and did not have time to travel up to Mozzate. I will be traveling to Milano again (next year for fun {I live in California}), and I would like to find out how I could meet with someone in Mozzate that may have known (aware of) the Monza family from 100 years ago. I will attach a short chart on my daughter-in-law's (Christin Monza) ancestors plus a couple of documents on her great grandfather.
Thanks in advance,
Tim Farnham

Dear Tim there are 5 MONZA surnamed persons currently in residence and if you go to www.paginebianche.it and put in MONZA inthe first line and Mozzate in the second line and then click CERCA you will see 5 persons with full names addresses and telephone numbers (Its a telephone directory with name, address, town and province). the website for Mozzate is www.tuttitalia.it/lombardia/24-mozzate
If you wish you can send them a potential relative letter from www.initaly.com/gene/mem/letter1.htm and enclose a self addressed envelope in each (one letter for all 5 will do).=Peter=

Peter,
I had already looked up all the Monza's in Mozzate and printed out names and addresses (with phone #'s); however, I didn't know what to do with them since I do not speak Italian.
Thank you for the link to - potential relative letter -
Best Regards,
Tim Farnham

I spent two seasons at Stresa on Lake maggiore which is not too far from Mozzate and a place to go when the "cousins" start showing you the countryside. =Peter=

Dear Tim This fellow GIUSEPPE MONZA advised that he does not know if your related to him thru your GGrandfather and went to the Mozzate Anagrafe (stato civile) office and asked them to research for any connection. He stated his grandfather GIOVANNI FERMO MONZA immigrateed to the USA at NYC in 1913/14 and returned to Italy after several years. He lastly stated that he will get in touch with you as soon as he receives infomation from the Anagrafe office.
Tim I did not think it necessary to furnish youwith a verbatim translation. =Peter=

Thank you Peter, I did find Felix's Brother Giovanni Fermo Monza did immigrate in 1913 and I did find him on the 1920 census; however, by 1930 the family is no where to be found in the US (I think this is the same person).

Peter,
I received another email from Giuseppe today (he does not speak English). Here is his note:
Tim le tue informazioni sono molto avanzate.
Io, GIUSEPPE, sono il figlio di MONZA ANGELO.
Ci risentiamo quando avrò ulteriori notizie. Grazie.
Cordiali saluti GIUSEPPE. CIAO
I gave him more info about his grandfather that came to USA in 1913 showing the children. He said that Angelo Monza is his father. Therefore, my grandchildren and daughter-in-law are cousins with Giuseppe.
How do I say "daughter-in-law" or "my son's wife", and "second cousin once removed" "second cousin twice removed" in Italian?
Thanks in advance,
Tim Farnham

Tim: Daughter -in-law =NUORA
Second cousin once removed=Cugino di secondo grado or my wife's cousin.
Second Cousin twice removed=Cugino di terza grado or my wife's second cousin
However, according to Italian law, cousins are all relatives up to 4th (quarto ) grade
.
THE REMOVED COUSINS ARE THE COUSINS OF PREVIOUS GENERATIONS
