To my surprise I realized that the surname Nicoletti is my family tree twice. I have one GGG grandmother with the maiden name Nicoletti and then ANOTHER GGG grandmother with the maiden name Nicoletti. But its two separate branches of my family tree and the family's are from two different regions. I just thought it was neat that 2 parts of my family that have nothing to do with the other happened to have the same name.
Is this a common surname? Can anyone tell me some info about this surname?

Common to find the same surname in 2 different lines?

Have you seen it on this site?
http://www.gens.labo.net/it/cognomi/genera.html
(Put it in the text box and click the red arrow.)
The name seems to be found all over Italy. Very common indeed!

Here's another site. This breaks it down region by region, then the results list the specific cities and towns.

On the first site linked in your previous message, have you noticed the three icons directly below the search box? Try clicking the center and the right-most icon (the left icon is the default mode).CowryShells wrote:Here's another site. Also, try the "Cerca anche in: USA" link a few inches below those icons. It appears that most Nicoletti's in the US are located in New York...

Thanks Johnny!
I have a question, what is the fine print above and below sono americano, sono italiano in your signature? That's a nice looking image to use here.
