Barbato/ Delvecchio

Post by rileym7 »

I am trying to do some work on my Grandfathers side. His father was James Barbato b. abt 1892 in Pignataro Maggiore. James came to the US in 1897 with his Mother, Giovannina. James father, Raffaele Barbato came to the US in 1891.

My Grandfathers Mother was Margaret Delvecchio, b. abt 1892 in Italy (I'm not sure where) I know from the 1920 census that she came to US in 1913.

I have a little more info on James Barbato, but have not found much about Margaret. I have ordered somes films of the indexes for pignataro, but I am not sure if that is where she was from.

I was hoping there may be some suggestions for where I might look while waiting for films to arrive. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It certainly looks like them. If I'm reading it right, it says that Raffaele was her Uncle. Are you able to read what it says under closest relation? or under street address? Thank you so much for sending me that link, I seem to be totally inept at finding ellis island records!

Thank you Tessa. When I looked at the ship manifest and the address from the census, I thought maybe they were the same. It is hard to read. I asked my Grandfather today if Raffaele was Margarets Uncle, he says he does not know. Having her Mothers name will help when looking through the indexes.
