I think you need to start with the known (Mom) and work backwards. There are alot of Salafia's out there.

Here is a 1910 census that I believe is your Sebastiano and his brother Natalia. They are lines 2 & 3. Arrived in 1904. Census page is not real clear.

Name: Sabastiana Lalatin
[Sebastiana Salafia]
Age in 1910: 19
Estimated birth year: abt 1891
Birthplace: Italy
Relation to Head of House: Boarder
Father's Birth Place: Italy
Mother's Birth Place: Italy
Home in 1910: Lawrence Ward 2, Essex, Massachusetts
Marital Status: Single
Race: White
Gender: Male
Year of Immigration: 1907
Neighbors: View others on page
Household Members:
Name Age
Antonio Mealone 46
Marie Mealone 45
Joseph Mealone 17
Emanule Mealone 7
Rosie Mealone 25
Salvatore Mealone 24
Carmila Mealone 5
Rosie Mealone 1 8/12
Natalia Lalatin 21
Sabastiana Lalatin 19
Romana Garratzin 39
John Romaria 33
Luigi Russo 25
Joe Russo 27
Mike Loste 33
Virginia Loste 32

Not the first, but I believe this is a manifest for Sebastino. Destination was to brother Natalie at 88 Common St. Lawrence Mass

Name: Sebastiano Salafia
Arrival Date: 14 Feb 1920
Birth Year: abt 1892
Birth Location: Italy
Birth Location Other: melilli
Age: 28
Gender: Male
Ethnicity/Race-
/Nationality: Italian (South) (Italian)
Port of Departure: Napoli
Port of Arrival: New York, New York
Ship Name: Giuseppe Verdi

Let me know what you think. I have seen that address in some other records. I have to look and see if I can find it again.

Edited to add manifest page.

Jak

Sorry, but for some reason one page of the manifest did not attach properly last night.

Please look again. Is the 1910 census and passenger record your ancestor? The passenger manifest has some naturalization information on it. If the manifest is correct it would appear he was not naturalized as of that date.

Have you contacted NARA for a naturalization records check?
