Trying to Trace My Italian Roots - Ressetta Reppia Italy

Post by Ressetta »

Can anyone please help me.

I am trying to trace back my Italian roots. So far I have discovered that my Great Grandfather (Robert McFarlane) married my Great Grandmother (Rosa Ressetta) in Reppia Italy in August 1883.

Does anyone have any information about the Ressetta family or know of any connection to this area. They may have married there but Rosa Ressetta may not necessarily have come from there.

Does anyone know the name of the Church?

Any information would be appreciated.

Are you positive regarding the Ressetta spelling?

The Italian telephone directory ( http://www.paginebianche.it/execute.cgi ... &ind=&l=en ) has only two listings for Ressetta in the entire country, conincentally both are doctors in Trieste.

Rosetta with an 'o' garners a few more hits (16); Rosetto pops up over 2200 times.

Hey,

Thanks for getting back to me and the address for the Chapel in Reppia.

I'm assuming that is an actual picture of the church and that it is still in use.

I will write to them only concern is I don't write or speak Italian so that
might be a bit of a problem.

I'm not sure about the spelling of the name as the Registry records are
all different and I am trying to get some information from some of my elderly relatives........TBC.

I'll let you know how I get on and maybe ask you for more help/advice
in future.

Cheers

Several sites can help with preparing a letter in italian. Here are a couple of good ones:

Hey Guys,

Hope you are well.

I've tried to email someone at Reppia (the email was listed with the address of the church) but it keeps coming back as undeliverable!!!

mauridon@libero.it Do you think that this might be the Priest?

I will now write to Italy using one of the sample letters as suggested and it is so easy as it is all done in Italian and all I have to do is fill in the personal details that I have.

Only problem is that I'm not even sure if the information I have is 100% correct.

Do you have any ideas of how I go forward with this as I am starting to get a bit disheartened with it all and far I may be going down the wrong route if I
have got the wrong spelling..............suggestions would be most welcome.

Thanks Livio,

I thought it might have been something to do wth the Apostles!

I have two names that Johnny has suggested:-

Ressetta Dr. Giancarlo
34135 Trieste (TS)
Via Elia Enrico, 3
tel:
040 412150

Ressetta Dr. Giulio Ostetrico Ginecologo
34133 Trieste (TS)
Via S. Francesco D'Assisi, 11
tel:
040 370468

Do you think I should telephone or write to them to see if hey are related to my grandmother and what should I say?

I am new to this and not sure if this would be the correct thing to do!

What do you think?

Cheers
