Need help w/ info on Gerardo Lanza, Agnese ?, kids orphaned?

On Ellisisland.org is a manifest for Maria Schiavone from 1906. She is single and traveling to brother-in-law Dominic CARMELO (looks like the same name on Antonio's manifest---Amelia Carmelo) in Hartford. She is from Accadia like Carlo.
She is on Line 30

the reason this doesn't make sense is that Maria would be coming to see her husband in Buffalo, NY... and I have never heard of any relatives ever living in Connecticut. And I know of no relatives named Carmelo, BUT I do not have any info on Maria Schiavone's family, parents, siblings. Maybe she was going to Hartford first to visit her sister and Carlo picked her up there. They were already married at that point and had two kids which would have been just 3 and 1years old then.

At this point I would definitely take vj's (second post) advice and write to the comune to request birth and marriage records. You never know what may come of it.
