last name - what could it be?

I cannot figure out this last name! I have some guesses but am hoping someone will think of something that I haven't.

It is from the L'Aquila region in early 1800's....

Thanks!

Actually I am thinking Lenza is a better choice, as this name still exists in that area.

I think that is always better to post the whole page, to compare the surname with the rest of the document.

I agree with you, Luca, but I have found that, in some towns, there is so much variation in the script on a single page, that sometimes it doesn't matter if you see an entire page or not. But, that can't be determined until we get to see the entire page of the document, and I do agree that the entire page should be uploaded to this website, as it may help us better determine the correct spelling of the surname.

The last name is on the 4th line from the bottom, all the way on the right... the last name of Celeste...

Thank you for looking!

I still think the surname is Lenza, despite slight variations in the capital L's in the record. Maybe someone else on this forum will perceive the surname differently. Other than that, I really don't know what other surname to suggest.

Thank you. I haven't had any success with generic "Celeste" searches, so I will just have to wait until I can order that generation's LDS films.

I appreciate everyone looking!

In order of probability: Lanza - Lenza - Longa (in my opinion, obviously).

Just a suggestion. If surnames are indexed alphabetically on your microfilms, you might want to see if you can find this surname in any of the indexes, even if not for a record you need. Doing that might give you a clue to the correct spelling of the surname in your town.
