A possible displacement of Irish people to the south of Italy?
Does anybody know when they came? Kept the same surnames?
Will be very grateful for any information.

Re: IRISH families in the South of Italy
I can only guess that some Irish came to Italy for the same reason that tens of thousands (?) came to the US - because of the diseased potato crops and the famine which ensued.
That's just a wild guess however. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Famine_(Ireland)
