Translate Marriage Record

Post by lilbees »

This is the marriage record for Salvatore Infante and Maria Grazia Mira 1866.

I am a bit confused about Salvatore's parents names and if he was married before.

Hi lilbees!

Salvatore's father is deceased Francesco, and Elisabetta Amorsio(sp?) living with her son, who is widower of Anna Maria Esponto.

First lines of second page tell of the documents presented including "di morte della prima moglie dello sposo" (the death act of the first wife of the groom)

father was deceased Francesco. As far as I can tell the word after his name is sarto, which is the same profession as Salvatore had, which was a tailor. The mother's name was Elisabetta Amoruso (?).

Hey, thanks all.

In the index for the other siblings the mother's name is spelled Elizabetta AMARUSO. At least they were printed clearly which is something I don't find very often. Hope that is correct.

Thanks to you all again. Everyone always comes through.

T,
No Esponto come up for Ellis Island from the town or in the current phonebook from the town, but plenty of Esposito do.

I just checked the current white pages for the town and there are 5 people with the surname and it is spelled as Amoruso. So I think you're changing it in your family tree is the right thing to do.
