Giovanni Saini b. abt 1838 Teglio (father - Giacomo Saini farmer, mother - Euphemia Benagia fishmonger. Emigrated to NZ April 1874 on the Euterpe. Looking for information on ways to research how and when he left Italy and documents relating to birth, parents, other family members. There is a wealth of information gleaned reading through other posts which has been very useful.

This above the website for the town. The town's anagrafe may have an emigration register which would enable them to tell you when your ancestor left the town. Below is an email address, but you must write your inquiry in Italian:

The anagrafe office would also have the vital records which are searching. Normally these can be requested via mail, including just a self-addressed enveloped. You should not, however, request too many documents at once and you must provide the office.

to continue what I was saying above, you must provide the anagrafe office with a narrow range of years for each event, if you don't have exact dates.

Many thanks for the direction. The info is extremely helpful. Have looked at angelfire.com previously but not sure where to direct my enquiries.
