Looking for info on Camerlingo (Mirabella)

Post by djm1228 »

Hi - I'm new here and starting to research my research on my mom's side of the family. I'm looking for any information on the last name of Camerlingo and Chiuchiolo located in Mirabella Italy.
Thanks, Diane

Hello and welcome! :-)

We'd be happy to help you search your family names...

What US documents do you have on the family? ship manifests? Census records?

We could use some details to help in the search. What first names are we researching, birthdates, and immigration dates?

Anything you can provide will help...

In Italy today the name Camerlingo is concentrated in the Campania Region, as does the name Chiuchiolo. Use this site to see the distribution of your family names:

Enter the name in the "cognome" box

There are three comune with the name Mirabella in Italy. They are in the Regions of Veneto, Campania, and Sicily.

We will need to find out which was the origin of your family...

If you are quite certain that the family came from Mirabella, Avellino, Campania, and you have birthdates...you can write directly to the comune for the records. This usually costs nothing. Just write the letter in Italian using these links if you don't know how to write in Italian...

http://www.angelfire.com/ok3/pearlsofwi ... tters.html

There is an email address at the comune website that you might like to try first...
Ufficio Anagrafe
Tel. 0825 438077
Email: anagrafe@comune.mirabellaeclano.av.it
Comune website

In addition, if you would like to pursue the research on your own, you can view the LDS microfilms at your nearest Family History Center. They have films available for the years 1809-1910 which include births, deaths, and marriages... You must go to the FHC to order the films ($5.50 per film per month) and you must view them at the center.
