Please Translate Latin Note To English?

Post by jamiecapaldi »

Here is the birth record of me great uncle. below is a note attached stating a 'Fiorinda Polacicco' and a date '1918'.
I would like to get hold of there marriage certificate, but cant find it.
In this note should tell me where they were married etc.

Please can somebody translate the note added in latin below the birth registry??

Many thanks!

Jamie, you are probably not getting a response since what you attached is only a small portion of the recordl

Instead of trying to attach, upload to imageshack.com

I imported the image into my photo program and tried zooming in and it is still difficult to read. I see what appears to be SS Cardis, which I thought might be the parish name, but I can't find any such parish. The SS would stand for the word Santissima. I think before the SS is the name of the town, but I can't make out what it could be. Before the date may be di 5 (for day five) followed by ad hora (at the hour of) but I can't make out what follows that or what precedes the di.

I also think that Fiorinda had two other first names preceding this name in the notation. After the word matrimonium, there is the word con or with. Then there are two names, the second of which could be Anna, right before the Fiorinda.

The year of marriage looks like it could also be 1913 :-)

Hi T
You could be right about the year. I was trying to find the month and really don't see it. Also I really can't seem to do anything other than I already did. Maybe you will have better luck. It is distorted when I zoom in a lot.

Hi Peg :-)

When I looked at it yesterday I had the same problems you did with the distortion in enlargement.

I was seeing SS Cardis also, but as you say, couldn't find a church of that name...

You made more of the script than I did after matrimonium... :-)

It was with Fiorinda Colacicco, 1918!

Happy you found it, Jaime.

T and I like the challenge anyway. So the word we were seeing for the church name was the Latin word for heart which is cordis.
