You can access the civil records from 1833 to 1865 on microfilm at the FHL (Family History Library). If you have an extract of his birth, there is a good possibility that the age of his father is listed and you can find the record of his birth...and possibly the marriage of his grandparents. Worth checking out.

Marie you have to go tothe nearest library of the family history library of the Mormon church if you want to trace your family back to 1833 like Essgee told you. The other way you have to send a form letter for each person one by one with a different letter and then send a few dollars each time. it is not worth it exept when you do not have the record on the microfilm at the library. Then you have to send a letter with a full name and year of birth for any birth, marriage or death record. Thuis way you get it all on the microfilm up to 1865 free (it costs $3.00 to rent the micorfilm thats all.) Peter

I hardly think you will have any difficulty in London. There are about 30 Family History Libraries for you to choose from. Go tio www.familysearch.org and look them up under the home page and then location. Peter

Peter & Essgee,
I have now ordered three films from the FHL,can you tell me what ,
Processetti films deal with,by the way Peter I dont think you would like London now,it has become very dangerous and lawless, people are frightened to go out alone at night, for fear of being mugged,or worse.

I believe they deal with civil records. Bring along a magnifying glass and there is a companion book Discovering Your italian Amncestors by Lynn Nelson. I am sorry to hear about merry old london....I kniow what that is like having dgone thru all that nastiness in NYC until Giuliani came into office and cleaned it all up. Just hang in there. Peter
