Census record help
Hi
I can't find any 1920 census records for my ancestors. I know they lived here in the USA before 1920, because my cousin Violet (age 94) told me and also she was born in 1917.
I'm looking for:
Andrea La Terra or Laterra (on the 1930 census they spell it Latera) idk why
Santa La Terra or Laterra
Angela or Angelina Tabbacchino (on the 1930 census, they spell it Tabbacchero, idk why)
Vincent Antonio Tabbacchino
I found their 1930 census records fine, but can't find anything for 1920.
Hopefully you guys can help!

Re: Census record help
Any chance that one or both of these families simply was not in the US at the time of the 1920 census?
I had an uncle who was working in Pennsylvania coal mines during the 1910 census and then living in Westchester County, NY by 1930. Absolutely could not find a 1920 census for him. Drove me crazy.
Turns out he returned to Italy in 1915, served in the Italian Army throughout WWI, and returned to the US in the latter half of 1920, hence he missed the census.

Re: Census record help
Have you noticed that at the time of her first arrival in the U.S. (1911) Andrea's wife Santa Scannavino stated she was joining her husband on 34 Mulberry Street NYC?
She was travelling with her child Carmelina (female) age 6 and Giovanna (female) 7? months.

I inadvertently left out the second page in my post, so here it is...
