115 Mulberry Street Manhattan, NY

Post by tonij16102 »

I found this address listed as the residence of my great-grandparents in the 1900 censuses. I googled it today and found that it is now a closed restaurant called Foclare. Is there a way to find a picture of this building as it was in the 1900's? I have no idea where to look. Thanks in advance, Toni

NYC took tax photos of every property.
You may want to check this site...

You might also want to try the Library of Congress American Memory Collection at this site...

Hi Toni - Here's a link to the thread where I asked a similar question. All my family, coming over, stayed in tenements on Monroe and Mulberry streets.

If you find other ways please let me know.

I would venture to say that a very large percentage of buildings in New York City (especially the Mulberry Street neighborhood) have stores/restaurants/shops on the ground level and unrelated offices or apartments on the upper floors. A reverse address lookup at whitepages.com lists 11 hits for that address, the Focolare Restaurant Inc, The Excalibur Group Inc, and nine probable residences. See http://www.whitepages.com/search/Revers ... city%2C+ny

Take a look here for lots of photos: http://www.google.com/images?hl=en&expI ... 25&bih=655

Another possible source is the New York Public Library's digital photo collection.
