Perrone family

Post by casassa »

I am unable to find info on a Caterina Perrone and family members that lived in Italy. She came to US in 1888. I am unable to find ship manifests or city in Italy where she was born. I am also not sure of surname if it is correcly spelled. It could be Perona. Any suggestions?

Thankyou again. I still think it is Caterina but the surname must be spelled wrong. Could it be Perrona? If Perrone is correct and they are from southern Italy it is a good start. I'll print the info and look other sites for more info. Thanks.

I don't know if this will help. Also, remember there were other ports besides New York.

The information below is for the New York Port between 1851-1891.

My elderly aunt gave me pictures of Caterina and name was written on back. . She is not sure of her surname. I do have the name Lucia Perotto and not sure where that fits in I was able to find an obituary Catherine Casassa and other children names and get a copy but no surname or birthplace. I know now that she was born in 1862 in Italy and died 1947. I know she married Pietro Casassa. The obituary said she had a brother in Belgium. Could Perrone family origin begin in Belgium then moved to Italy? How do I find census information for Illinois? Would that help me in tracing roots to Italy?

Hope this helps, it's a 1930 census.

Name:   Cathern Casassa
Age:   67 Estimated birth year:   abt 1863 Relation to head-of-house:   Wife Spouse's Name:   Peter CasassaHome in 1930:   Spring Valley, Bureau, Illinois Family and neighbors:   View Results Occupation:   View
Image source:   Year: 1930; Census Place: Spring Valley, Bureau, Illinois; Roll: 407; Page:  ; Enumeration District: 21; Image: 785.0.

Immigration is 1889 for Peter... and 1888 for Catherin...

but... if a 1920 census could be located it would help too... sometimes this info isn't always 100%.

I found recently that my great grand mothers name is Catherine, before entering the US, our name that was Peroni in Italy was changed to the sounded spelling of it making it Perrone. She was married to Leonard Peroni and they arrived here in the 1880s moving to southern Philadelphia and then Noristown, PA. I have also found out that there is a beer in Italy, Peroni Birra, that my ancestors have been highly successful of. If you know any more information let me know, I too am trying to find relatives/

Casassa,

There is a large concentration of Perrone's that came to work in DE in the early 1900s. Do you happen to know if any of them might be your family? Many of the descendants now live in PA.

Hi Jim,

I have not traced the family back farther then Maria Caterine Perrone, parents were Domeaico and Lucia Perotto, Caterina was born September 6, 1862 in Chialamberto and lived in Il. There could be relatives in Pa.
