VITELLO SEARCH
Hello,
I'm searching for my Great Great Grandparents Vitello. My Great Grandmother was Dominica Vitello b. abt 1861 possibly in San Cipirello or San Guiseppe Jato Sicily, Italy. Dominica married Giovanni Paratore in Piana Dei Greci( albanese) abt 1885.
We know that Dominica had a brother Pietro b. abt 1860 whose two daughters Margharita and Cecilia married two Micciche Brothers (John and Joseph) from San Giuseppe Jato and Immagrated to Long Island NY. Dominica's mother name is most probally Margharita and father is possibly Costanzo evident from Italian birth order traditions of both Dominica and Peitro's families.
Dominica and Pietro might also have had a Brother Giuseppe.
If any one can offer any information that would be great!

Or you might prefer to write directly to the comune (town) to request records. You should write your request in Italian, and provide as much information about the person as you can. Try to request only one or two records at a time...
If Domenica was married in Piana degli Albanesi (name changed from Piana Dei Greci in 1941), there is a good chance that she was born there.

Re: Vitello : Searching Vitello
Pietro was born in 1861 and he married a Rosaria. He also had Children called Fortunato and Costanzo/a. They emmigrated from San Giuseppe, Palermo.
Pietro had a brother in Brooklyn, NY called Giuseppe.
This is what i found on a Giuseppe Vitello. (might not be the brother though???)

Re: Vitello : Searching Vitello
Thank you to all that responded.
We are sure Dominica wasnt born in Piana, but family oral history may have added to the confusion if she was born in San Cip or San Giuseppe. I did work with someone who is really great (over the internet) who ordered and searched the records of San Cip but niether Pietro or Dominica were found.
I think at this point I will write to the comunes for records. I will search out someone for help with the Italian.
Thank you for the recources and support.
What a great forum
Peace,
