Can you look at that manifest I found and see if you can read any of the info on it concerning the town name and name of her father? Thanks
Peg
I am not sure about the father or the town, but Domenica's surname really looks like Seuma and it appears she is lined-out (although the line misses her entry somewhat). All the other non lined-out entries have a check mark at the far left, the lined-out ones do not. Domenica does not have a check mark so it looks like she did not sail on this voyage - whoever she may be.

it's possible she didn't sail, but I was trying to make out the information on it anyway. It just came up when I did a phonetic spelling search of the name and the year of birth matched. I didn't say it was definitely the manifest for Domenica Summa. That's why I wanted someone else to look it over. We can eliminate that possibility then.

John,

if the arrival manifest that Carmine found is correct:

page 1:
http://postimage.org/image/1vz3weiw4/

page 2:
http://postimage.org/image/1vzr1xdt0/

then it states clearly that Canio Vaccaro, age 18, single, farmlabourer, last permanent residence Avigliano, nearest relative in Italy his wife Domenica Maria (conflicting information with the marital status) was going to Port Chester NY, to join his brother Vaccaro Antonio living on 30 Buc? Street. He stated also he was born in Avigliano.

Welcome to the forum

The (payment) site Ancestry.com has on.line the civil registrations for the town of Avigliano (Potenza Province - Basilicata region)...

This is the image of Canio's birth act:

postimage.org/image/25mf6aco4/

Canio Vaccaro was born in Avigliano on 22 july 1894, He was son of Gianbattista Vaccaro, age 32 and of Domenica Maria Paolucci?.
By a better look of the birth act image I believe the correct lastname of Canio's mother was Colucci...

Image

Peg and Carmine, could you please give a look to this lastname on the document?

Hi Laura

I think the surname is Carlucci. I don't see an o for Colucci. I see an "a" after the C, which definitely is not part of that letter and then there is another letter which almost looks like a "v," but I think it's an "r" and the way it's connected makes it looks like a v. Unfortunately, both surnames exist in the town.

James is not my family...
My Aunt Mae..oldest sibling in fathers family was born Dec 18, 1914 so
Domenica / Maria must have arrived here late December 1913.
The Family did live on Beech street for a while then Sand Street
Antonio Vaccaro was my Grandfathers brother
The Summa family's Vito was my Grandmothers Brother
Still have not found record of Grandmother coming in to country and that would be link to finding out more on her parents and brothers/sisters...JTV36
for reference 1920 census image:
http://postimage.org/image/2ksyi0bes/full/

If these dates are correct for Vito:

Social Security Death Index
about Vito Summa
Name: Vito Summa
SSN:
Last Residence: 10573 Port Chester, Westchester, New York, United States of America
Born: 14 Feb 1898
Last Benefit: 10573 Port Chester, Westchester, New York, United States of America
Died: Sep 1985
State (Year) SSN issued: New York (Before 1951)

Then this is his birth act:

Birth act n. 108 year 1898

Vitantonio Summa was born on 14 february 1898 in Avigliano, son of Giambattista Summa, age 37, farmer, and of Domenica Maria Telesca.

John, can you confirm or not these records? If they are correct, then now you know Domenica Maria Summa's parents names...
