My great, great-grandfather, Alfonso Battaglia was born about 1848 in Sicily. In about 1872 he married Antonina Piazza and at some point moved to San Cataldo, Caltanissetta. They had six children (the youngest, Giuseppe, is my great, grandfather) and in 1903 immigrated to America with most of their children en route to Farnham, NY to a brother-in-law, Antonino Mondi.
I have been unable to determine where in Sicily Alfonso was born (I can find no evidence so far that he was born in San Cataldo), where he married, and most importantly the names of his parents.
Any information anyone can provide on these items would be greatly appreciated!

Battaglia is also a surname in Resuttano (CL) where my family is from. I don't have the birth records before 1866 easily accessible but I do have marriage records for 1872. Do you know if they were married before or after the move?

Alfonso Battaglia birth place is written on his marriage record and death record. Since marriage usually takes place in the village of the bride, you can find Antonina Piazza birth place on her death record. I hope it helps

Please contact me.
The Alfonso that you are looking for was most likely from Valledolmo,Sicily
They are related to us by his son in law Giuseppe Falzone who married his daughter,
Teresa. They came to San Cataldo after their wedding. They also travelled together
to go to Farnham New York.
