Unresponsive comune, its been almost a year!!!

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

That would be wonderful!!!
I am looking for my great grandmothers birth record. Her name was Lena Motta. She was born in Rome on 30 july 1894.
Lena's mothers name was Rita Ravetta and her fathers name was Ercole Motta.

Thank you so so much!!!!! :D

Emily
Just to clarify: baptism or birth record?
Secondly: are you sure Lena is correct spelling? Of maybe is the way you pronounce it? Maybe Lina?
Thanks, I'll do it as soon as you give me these details.

Hello Floriana ~

I was requesting my grandmothers birth record.
I have sent all the requests to the Comune di Roma. Via Petroselli 50 - 00186 Roma.
I am not sure of the spelling :? I know Lenas garndmothers name was Maddalena. But I am really not sure!

Thanks a million!!!
Let me know if you need to know any thing else!
Good luck~

Sorry
I'll try to see what can I do for you.

For Emily:
offices are olready closed or so it seems, but I've called anyway.

Have you tried this way?
http://www.evisura.it/certificato_di_nascita.php
It's an online form request for a birth certificate that you can pay directly with credit card.
I've written to ask if they can do it even with old archive records. Let's wait their answer.

DeFilippis78, so sorry.

Flo _ Thank you so much! You can PM me at signoretti if you like! I am curious of what Rome is going to say?
I am excited about the website and hopefully they will have old archives too!

Thanks again ~

I heard him: he was very sorry, he had seen my email but he forgot to check when he had the chance. He promised me to check it next Thursday, when he'll be again in Bobbio.

:-P

Re: www.evisura.it
This is a company that obtains certificates from any commune for 42 euro each, usually for legal purposes. Since the certificates are valid for only 6 months that would imply they are fairly current.

This is ridiculous. Ive been waiting almost a year, I dont even see why I have to pay that much. Its a comune with 354 families. How hard is it for some one there to look a BC up in such a small place? I will keep the link though. It will be my last resort

Send me the info and I 'll call them. Maybe the records don't exist.

Jersey Girl,

Have you taken a run at getting the documents from the Archivo di Stato in the capital city of the state in which the comune is located? Theoretically, they are supposed to have a duplicate copy of the vital records which are maintained by each of the comunes which are located in the state, and the copies they issue are reportedly accepted by Italian consulates located in the US.

It didn't work for me personally, as the Archivo di Stato in my ancestral state replied that they didn't have birth records for the specific year I requested (probably destroyed during the war). But it's worth a shot if you haven't attempted it yet.

Actually, Im not sure, lol. Ive sent so many requests to so many towns and archives for records for the consulate and just plain, old genealogy that Ive lost track. But now that I think about it, I dont think I requested for this particular document through archives. I guess its worth a try right :)
