Need help translating Italian documents

Post by pb471 »

Hello, :D
I just received a letter and associated documents from the State Archives in Pescara, Italy. I need help translating the letter and the 5 associated documents. I have them loaded at photobucket, so I will load the url's. If someone can read through them a translate them, I would be greatly appreciative.

Thanks,
Tom

Livio,
Thank you foe your translation assistance. I have never seen an Italian document for my family before. Can the whole document be translated including the hand written pieces? Or is it too hard to make out?

Thanks again..

Hi Tom,

Takes time to translate, which is why we sometimes give you the "short" version (just the important information)... :-)

However, if you want to try your hand at the parts of the document that are pretty consistent, take a look at this site. It is a guide to the extraction of Italian Records. Great tutorial. Before you know it, you'll be able to read them yourself!!! :-)

FYI... the written part of the marriage of Giovanni and Filomena reads:

"The document presented is the certificate of pubblication executed by me, first on the 3rd and second on the 10th of the current month of July. At the above mentioned marriages was presented the consent of the parents of the groom, and parents of the bride as requested for the act of publication. I read the present act to the participants and they signed with me below, except the bride, who does not know how to write."

Thank you so much for transcribing the handwritten part of the marriage certificate. I am trying to translate the documents using the link provided above and I am having some success. The handwriting though is hard read. If anyone can transcribe the handwritten parts of the two birth certificates I would be grateful.

Thanks again!!

In both acts the first handwritten sentence states that the declaration of the birth was done by the midwife because she assisted, due to her profession, to the birth and because the husband was absent being in America (in 1901) or being out of town (in 1905).
The second sentence states:" this act was read to all the attendees and undersigned by them, with the exception of xxxx who declared to be illiterate"
