Scialdone & Russo surnames from Vitulazio

Hi, looking for relatives of my great-grandparents. My great-grandfather, Giuseppe Scialdone was orginally from Vitulazio. He was born in 1884 to Pasquale (sp?) Scialdone and Elizabetta Tamburinno (sp?). In 1906, he married Angeline Russo and immigrated to the USA.

She was born in approx. 1883 to Salvatore Russo and Caroline Benincasa. I believe that she is also from Vitulazio (or Bellona). I have a copy of their marrage certificate, however, it is stamped from Villa Volturno.

Vitulazio (provincia caserta ) and BellonA (Provincia Caserta) Are botbh on micorfilm for their civil records from 1809 to 1910 covering all births, marriages and deaths. If you go to the nearest family history library of the Mormon church you can locate these families during those periods at a very minimal cost of $3.00 per microfilm. bring along a book which you can buy o borrow as an accompaniment titled Discovering Your Italian Ancrestros. by Lynn nelson. I don't have a family connection with any of you, I just have a fetish for boat records...

Lots of Scialdones coming through Boston Harbor, but the only Giuseppe coming through here was only a few months old in 1909.

Sher, did they first settle in Hillsdale, PA?

mfjp, as far as I can tell they settled in the Hillsville/New Castle, PA area (Alliquippa also). However, they did supposedly have family (Guiseppe's sister, Carmela (Scialdone) Giordano) who settled in the Boston, Mass. I just can't figure out which other relatives they were!!

Still going through the microfilm but I'm struggling with the handwritten text!

I have never...I checked the Boston passenger records through Ancestry.com and those never came up!

next to the kids (listed closer to the nearest relative in Italy) there's handwriting "born at Boston claims".

Did she have to have proof? Without writing to obtain a birth certificate, is there anyway I can determine where they were born (Italy or Boston)?
I can't believe that you located her husband's godson. I'm completely amazed!

I'm sure the Scialdone's visiting the Russo's in Boston are a somehow a connection. When checking the microfilm...there's too many of both names to try to keep track of who "belongs" to who.

I have been searching for the manifest that contained both Angela and Giuseppe for almost a year. You did it in a matter of minutes! Thank you.

I have a passenger record from ellis island for Giuseppe Scialdone (my g-grandfather) arriving on November 17, 1899 to visit his brother Lorenzo in Hillsville,PA. However, I know that he went back to Italy at some point and married Angela in 1906 (in Italy). If she came in 1910, where's he? Why can't I find a returning record of him? Any suggestions?!

Then if she claims they were born in Boston... then there must be another manifest somewhere... for Carmela
