Looking for information on D'Amarino Family

Post by ldamarino »

I'm new to the board. My aunt has posted some stuff on here but I am starting to look up stuff as well. Looking for information on Edward Guarnieri D'Amarino. Right now the most we know is that he was born in 1881 in Italy. I tried to look up where the documents say he is from, Puglianells, Cucasento, Italy, on googlemaps but it does not come up. He married Lucia M Angelicola in 1911, arrived in 1903. If anybody can lend any assistance it would be greatly appreciated. i should also add that he resided in Brockton, MA

the problem is that D'Amarino surname not exist, but exist Guarnieri... on line it are the military records for men born in all Benevento province from
1872 to 1928 and I cannot find your Eduardo, no by Guarnieri ( Eduardo/Edoardo first name) surname and not by a similar version of D'Amarino surname( Di Marino/De Marino/De Marini) it is possible that the original first name was not Eduardo/Edoardo?

Hi Valarie,
I believe that the right name of Edward was Eduardo Guarnieri; we know that Maria Lucia Angelicola born in 2 May 1887- Carlantino(Foggia province) emigratedin USA in Jun 15, 1907and settled in Waterbury with father Angelo;
now I found only 1 Eduardo Guarnieri, right birth year, married at Maria resident in San Salvatore Telesino, born in San Salvatore Telesino ( very close Puglianello), emigrated in USA in 1903 and joining at brother Filippo in NY
New York Passenger Lists, 1820-1957
about Edwardo Guarnieri
Name: Edwardo Guarnieri
Arrival Date: 11 May 1903
Birth Year: abt 1882
Age: 21
Gender: Male
Ethnicity/Race/Nationality: Italian (South) (Italian)
Port of Departure: Naples, Italy
Port of Arrival: New York, New York
Ship Name: Regina Elena

and second trip 1909 and settled in NY joining at sister Mariantonia...
New York Passenger Lists, 1820-1957
about Eduardo Guarnieri
Name: Eduardo Guarnieri
Arrival Date: 29 Mar 1909
Birth Year: abt 1881
Birth Location: Bernvento
Birth Location Other: s salvatore
Age: 28
Gender: Male
Ethnicity/Race/Nationality: Italian (South) (Italian)
Port of Departure: Naples, Italy
Port of Arrival: New York, New York
Ship Name: Indiana

I cannot find the US military record of this Eduardo Guarnieri...
it could be possible that this Eduardo Guarnieri becoming Edward Guarnieri D'Amarino in USA, and that for some reason he chanfìged the name?

Hi suanj!
I agree, it appears that for some reason he added a second surname.
The fellow on your manifest finds should have had a military registration card.
I can't find a record of his marriage in MA, perhaps his marriage record holds a clue?

Hi Valarie, this Eduardo Guarnieri is the only probable record; by deep search no other find... D'Amarino not exist; he changed the surname, and addedd the true surname in WWII draft registration card... but the only record is Eduardo Guarnieri born in San Salvatore Telesino and not Puglianello as declared in WWII draft registration card... I no found the 1910 census; I no found also the marriage ... maybe the poster can add more details abt the ancestor,
hugs,

Yes they are. I have used those and gotten a little further from what she had but we are still experiencing issues finding stuff on her grandfather, my great-grandfather.

As far as any other information, I will have to defer to my Aunt. I didn't hear much of an family history growing up perhaps she has been able to find some stuff at the house in Brockton. I have since moved to New York to work so it is difficult for me to stop over and see or gather anything there.
