Contacting potential relatives...

Post by Naples13 »

Has anyone ever written a letter and mailed to possible relatives from which your ancestors came? People with the same last name from the same small town? What would one say?

To find addresses - enter name in "chi/cosa" and the town in "dove" to search the Italian phone book...

Thank you T....

How are the addresses actually written on an envelope, as they are found in the phonebook? Would it be similar format to what we have in the US? Also, would I need to include a postage paid return envelope?

Format would be..

NAME
Street, number
Code Comune (Province ABRV.)
Italy

For example:
If you found this listing in the phone book...

Alfani Agostino
00146 Roma (RM)
Via Veronese Giuseppe, 18

YOU WOULD WRITE IT THIS WAY:

Alfani Agostino
Via Veronese Giuseppe, 18
00146 Roma (RM)
Italy

I would send an UNSTAMPED self-addressed envelope :-)

Our postage does not work for return letters in Italy and if you do the international reply coupon, italian postage now is 1.60 euro so for each return letter so you would need 2 coupons they are $2.10 each available at the post office or online.
