Lamberto and Barbaresi families
Lamberto and Barbaresi families
Hi, I just joined this site and am thrilled to find it.
My grandfather was born Mario Lamberto in Bauso Italy near Messina Sicily to Placido and Nicolina Lamberto.
He came to USA on SS Canopic 1913 age 38, married to woman named Domenica but he later married my Grandmother Pierina Barbaresi from Ancona Italy.
I am looking for any information at all or relations to any one here?

Hi kristym
Here is the image for the 1910 Census that Marty has provided above...
http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/1130 ... ta1910.jpg
The census is notorious for its inaccuracies, especially the spelling of names (first and last) and for the dates of immigration. Many of the informants were illiterate and could not spell names correctly, or didn't know or understand the information that was being asked. If Domenica was the informant for Mario's date of immigration, she certainly may have been off by a year

Re: Lamberto and Barbaresi families
According to the above census, Domenica was 7 years older than Mario; and they lived at 39 Baker Street in Middlesex, MA. Do either of those "facts" ring a bell?

Re: Lamberto and Barbaresi families
Yes that is him and his first wife...I am not sure if she may have died and then he married my Grandmaother: Her name was Pierina Barbaresi from Ancona Italy. They got married in Clinton MA and lived there until he died of a heart attack at age 48 or 49.
Any info on her would also be appreciated...?

Re: Lamberto and Barbaresi families
Hi again, I spoke with my Aunt mary who filled in some blanks which are as follows:
Pierina Barbaresi b. 4-29-1891 Ancona (my maternal grandmother) had 7 sisters and one brother: Emilia,Septemia,Nina (Anna), Peppa, Enrika(Ricetta) , Loretta, Guiseppa, and Pasquale who died young. Her mother was Maria Conte and her father Domenico Barbaresi.
Anna and Ricetta also came to USA. Anna moved to Springfield MA I do not know husbands name yet, and had Nino, Mary, Francis and Rene as children. Anna died young of TB, do not yet know when. Ricetta moved from Worcester St. Clinton MA to PA. I do not know spouses name yet or children if any.
All the rest of her siblings stayed in Ancona or that area.
Mario Lamberto b. 8-26-1876 0r 1875 Messina d. 10-17-1943 of 3 heart attacks (my maternal grandfather) came to USA 1903 m. to Domenica (? last name?? no children, she died of influenza. His mother was Nicolina Natache and his father was Nunzio Lamberto (you said Placido? Could one be a second name?) He went back to Messina, then returned to USA in 1920. He married Pierina in 1921. They had 6 children: Nicolina,, Domenic, Nunzio, Mary, Rosa, Petrina.
He had a brother named Pietro Lamberto who came to USA. I do not know when...to Providence RI where he died 1-26-1930 of influenza. he was married to Rosaria (?last name?) and they had no children.
He also had a sister (I do not know here name) who stayed inSicily, never married but had oine son...name not known.
My question(s) are is there a way to find any living relatives in Sicily and in Ancona areas? Is there a recording of parents for Maria Conte, Domenic Barbaresi and for Nunzio/Placido Lamberto and wife Nicolina Natache?
I am also going to dig deeper into the PA and Springfield children who may be surviving here in USA.
Thanks again.

Re: Lamberto and Barbaresi families
Is it true that in 1908 a huge earthquake and tidal wave hit Sicily and ALL records previous to that date were destroyed?
Meaning that it is impossible to find out who my grandfather mario's parents parents were?
