Birth Record translation please

Post by carla370 »

This Birth Record is for Assuntina DeCicco daughter of Luisa Greco however; she is a stepchild to Luisa's husband Francesco DeCicco.

Can someone please check this for any confirmation she is adopted or not the natural daughter of Francesco? Also what birth date is shown for her?

Many thanks!

Carla

thanks Marty for the look. Although this document is not dated the film is records 1900-1910. Francesco and Luisa were married about 1902-1903, can't recall exactly at the moment. His first wife passed 1901. Is this a common wording to indicate an adoption? or to indicate the child is being given his family name?

Does anyone have any information regarding early Italian marriages, whether this could be considered a formal adoption?

Thanks

I see nothing here that indicates any adoption :-(

Assuntina was born on the 15 August 1897 @ 11:15 AM, and presented on 17 August 1897 at the town hall @ 9:20 AM, by her father, Francesco DeCicco, who declared that the child was born at the house on Via Roma, on the 15th of the current month, to Luisa Greco, his wife living with him.

Witnesses are as Marty stated above.

thanks Tessa but the document may have a date of (I thought it was 1887) but apparently you say it says 1897, It was recorded in 1903. It was in the 1903 archives. I have the film.
In 1897 Francesco was married to my great grandmother Maria Porco. She died in 1901 (I asked for a translation of her death certificate here on this board a couple weeks ago). Then he remarried to Luisa Greco in 1903, I have the marriage banns. By this time Assuntina was already a youngster.

Not sure what it all means

Sorry to be a pain, but Assuntina was married at age 15 in Canada in 1903. She would have been born in 1887 which fits with all the other records I have. She is a half sib who was the same age as my grandfather.

No explanations here

The only explanation is that the Assuntina in the record you posted is a different person also because she could not get married before being born!
